The S4F Program aims to enable Scouts from 1st Balmoral Sea Scout Group to learn to sail competently and safely in dinghies.
Scouts undertake the S4F Program over a number of weekends from November to April (excluding school holidays) , through a combination of theory and practical sessions, under the guidance of experienced adults. Scouts sail off Balmoral Beach in Sydney Harbour. The program operates under the direction of a Dinghy Sailing Instructor, who holds both Scouts Australia and Yachting Australia qualifications.
The program is built around the requirements for the granting of sailing competency certificates at Level 1 and Level 2. Scouts also have the opportunity to receive Yachting Australia dinghy sailing Basic Skills 1 & 2 recognition. There is a fee for applying for YA qualifications, to cover YA charges.
